Tinie Tempah – ‘Pass Out’

There is a bit at the beginning of the video here which looks disturbingly like the sweat of Tinie’s brow flying off his face and forming a ring around his head, a bit like the rings of Saturn.
This presents several joke opportunities, which, if you’ll indulge me a second, I am about to explore. Reinforce those sides, and here we go:
I’ve heard of sweat-rings but this is ridiculous… RIMSHOT!
If you like him, you should probably wipe the ring off him… QUIETER RIMSHOT!
What does Tinie Tempah like to do after he’s been to the gym? Give someone a ring… EVEN QUIETER RIMSHOT!
What’s Tinie Tempah’s favourite day of the week? Saturn-day*… NO RIMSHOT!
(Here’s the video. Magic shades!)
Not that I am alone in attempting some one-liners. Tinie himself has a (much, much better) way with the funny arrogance, throwing out bizarre little gems like “I’ve been Southampton but I’ve never been to Scunthorpe” or “I’ve got so many clothes I keep them in my aunt’s house”. Which you really wouldn’t expect from a song about falling over.
You’ll be too busy trying to fight your way out from under an avalanche of extreme bass to laugh, of course: in much the same way that you’d struggle to send a text if a woolly mammoth was sitting in your lap. But on my trusty, tinny old work headphones, I can hear ‘em, and I’m kind of giggledancing, if such a thing wasn’t a massive blot on my otherwise flawless hard man reputation.
All in all, a brilliant combination of crushing sound, raw delivery, sharp cheekbones, good specs and clever wordplay. His wordplay, of course, not mine.
