‘We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied,’ he tells MTV News.

For six years, “Lost” viewers have watched unlucky millionaire Hugo “Hurley” Reyes transform from lovable-but-terrified plane-crash survivor to an unlikely leader of men. The progression of Hurley’s character wasn’t just a pleasant surprise for the show’s fans; it was also a treat for Jorge Garcia, the 37-year-old actor who’s been a mainstay on the soon-to-conclude series since the very first episode.

“It’s been cool,” Garcia told MTV News when asked to describe his character’s arc from the pilot episode to “The End,” the title of the final “Lost” episode, which airs Sunday. “The more subtle ways he ends up finding moments to show leadership qualities or save the day by hitting someone with a van, it worked out kind of well. It’s kind of like you don’t know when you’re starting out, but you kind of see it. If you just go through a plane crash, you might need to get your bearings a little bit. Then you start figuring it out, stretching your legs and seeing what’s what. He was always big on the advancement of the group more than anything. He didn’t want to stick out or do anything weird. He’s kind of like the cheerleader, in a way.”

With the series finale looming, Garcia still hasn’t fully realized that his days on “Lost” are over. “It hasn’t really hit me yet,” he admitted. “There have been little things where it’s like, ‘Hey, that’s kind of sad.’ Reading the last script had a little thing to it. Doing this event in Los Angeles where ['Lost' composer Michael Giacchino] was conducting the orchestra had a little bit to it. But I haven’t really felt it. Either that or I’m being very stoic about it. I thought it was going to be a huger thing for me. Maybe when I finally get on that plane and I’m officially moved from Hawaii, it’ll hit me.”

Garcia’s final day of shooting wasn’t terribly emotional, mostly because it was such a physically grueling experience. “That particular day was a very long day, and it was just exhausting in the end,” he said. “It was kind of like a lot of work. It was a physically demanding scene. At the end of it, I was like, ‘Whew, I am ready for bed, but I’ll stick around and watch them shoot the last shot of the whole series. OK, now I’m going to bed.’ ”

With only two days remaining before the finale airs, Garcia said he still doesn’t know exactly how the show is going to end. “There’s one thing I still don’t know in the finale,” he said. “It’s one small piece in the finale that was only given to the actors in that scene, and I was not one of those actors.”

But based on what he does know, Garcia said he and the entire “Lost” team are aware that some fans will walk away feeling disappointed. “With a show like this and fans like this, we know — and we already got a taste of it with the ‘Across the Sea’ episode — we know there are going to be some fans who are like, ‘What the eff?’ We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied with how the story goes and will be vocal about it so that we hear both sides!”

If nothing else, Garcia can identify one person who’s happy with how “Lost” ends. “It was very satisfying,” he said of his experience.

With “Eclipse” more than a month from hitting theaters, Twilighters have been clamoring for clues about what to expect from the third installment in the vampire saga. While those details may be scarce, a new “bookazine” from the editors of Us Weekly promises some behind-the-scenes scoop guaranteed to please Twi-Hards.

In “The Sexy Stars of Twilight: Eclipse,” on newsstands May 28, some of the “Eclipse” castmembers opened up about what it was like on the movie’s set. The special issue also includes tons of pictures and posters, as well as factoids about the cast and the production.

For instance, cast newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard, who takes over as vampire Victoria, admitted she was initially concerned about joining the already close-knit cast, but found them incredibly welcoming.

“It was something I deeply considered and discussed with many people, because it is a very big deal,” Howard says in the book. To her relief, she discovered “Rob [Pattinson] and Taylor [Lautner] are such great guys. I love those boys! And Kristen [Stewart] was like, ‘Where’s your baby? I want to meet him.’ ”

But rather than KStew, it seems Nikki Reed turned out to be the on-set babysitter. “She’s like a second mom!” Howard remarks. “The other day [my baby] said, ‘I miss Nikki.’ I was like, ‘Honey, I miss Nikki too!’ ”

“We’re such a close family,” Kellan Lutz added.

Reed also dished about what it’s really like to chill with her co-stars.

“OK, P-Fatch [Peter Facinelli] is definitely the jokester and prankster. And he’s very much a father figure — safe and comforting,” Reed said. “Jackson [Rathbone] is the most artsy, creative and, I think, the most talented. Liz Reaser is the most well-read. Kellan and Ashley are very similar: They’re both very driven people, and they both like to go out a lot. A lot of the partying happens around them. [Pattinson] has the best heart.”

Diddy is expanding his empire. The mogul recently announced the opening of a management firm that he’ll oversee in addition to his existing business holdings, which include a restaurant, clothing line and, of course, Bad Boy Records.

Rick Ross was the first to ink with Diddy, describing the knowledge Diddy has as “priceless.” And now, Nicki Minaj is finalizing the paperwork that will allow the Last Train to Paris superstar to guide her career. The Young Money femcee has already been in the studio with Diddy, and he’s been singing her praises.

“Nicki Minaj, she’s definitely one of the great ones,” Diddy told MTV News while promoting “Get Him to the Greek,” speaking publicly for the first time about his new signee. “She has a long way to go, but you know how we recognized LeBron [James] was a great one, Tiger [Woods] was a great one, and Kobe [Bryant] was a great one? Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun.”

So far, Nicki Minaj has released only one single, the Sean Garrett-assisted “Massive Attack,” which boasts a Hype Williams-directed video. But she’s been prominently featured on a slew of other artist’s records, including Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad,” Robin Thicke’s “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” and Mariah Carey’s “Up Out My Face.”

In February, the Queens lyricist spoke with MTV News and said she’s in no rush to release her yet-untitled debut.

“With the album, just like with my mixtape, I never like to rush it,” Minaj explained. “With the album, I think it’s more important that people get accustomed to seeing a female rapper again. Before I drop an album, people need to come out and see. People don’t even know what a female rapper does. We’re so not used to seeing it.

“It’s nonexistent in categories. We don’t get nominated. I need to work [the people] up to accepting a female rapper again and accepting my style and all of that — then the album will come. Honestly, I’d love to put an album out this year, but I don’t believe in rushing things either. We’ll see.”

The Big man with the even bigger heart. Friday (May 21) would have been Notorious B.I.G.’s 38th birthday.

Lil’ Cease sat back and thought about fond memories of his late friend, especially birthday memories. There was a time when Cease lost a birthday present that Faith Evans had bought her husband.

“I lost a ring she bought Big,” Cease said with a big grin. “It was about $15,000.”

Cease would sometimes wear Biggie’s jewelry onstage while they were performing. During a section in the show where they performed “Gimme the Loot,” Cease would throw wads of cash into the crowd. During one show in Texas, Cease was wearing Big’s gift and threw the ring in the crowd along with the money. The youngest member of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. didn’t realize until they were backstage after the show.

“He’s like, ‘A’ight, where that ring at, playboy?’ ” Cease thought back. “I’m looking on my finger, in my pockets. … He was like, ‘That ring is gone.’ ”

Cease said Big wasn’t angry, he just told him he had to deal with Faith.

Cease also laughed when he looked at a picture of Biggie blowing out birthday candles with Puff Daddy at a party, circa 1995.

“That’s Puff Daddy. I can’t remember his name, but the guy in the middle, that’s Stevie J’s brother,” the Brooklyn native said, looking at the photo that was shot by Ronnie Wright. “We was in the park during a Total video shoot. We was just sitting there, 3 o’clock in the afternoon, drinking Cristal on the grass in Long Island, having fun. Fly. That was just the start of the day.”

Laughter ensued when Cease thought about when Biggie turned 21.

“At that time, we was still getting on with the record deal. It wasn’t that much of a celebration. Just more some family and friends sitting around having a good time. Real basic stuff. A little party. Riding around listening to music. We knew what was about to happen. Puff was working with him. Diddy threw a nice gathering for us. It was just the basics. Big had that Land Cruiser. We would drive around, get that smoke for the first part of the day. Then we was in the lab, in Daddy’s House [Diddy's studio]. Daddy’s House had just got up and running.”

When asked how Big would be celebrating today, Cease said more of the same.

“Today, he’d probably just be with the family,” Cease said. “We had our experience on the road: performing, doing shows, big parties. He definitely would have had a big party. A celebrity affair. But he also would have done something private with the M.A.F.I.A., close friends, wife. He kept it together with everybody he dealt with, and I’m sure they would have all came out and shown their love for Big and kept everything else under the carpet, whatever it was. Big had that type of heart, that everyone would wanna come out and show their love and spend that day with him.”

Message to Green Lantern: Homie, make it happen! One of the great DJs in the game is on the road with Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley on the Distant Relatives Tour, and we’re all hoping Green can convince Nas to do another mixtape.

“Perhaps,” Nas said with a grin. “Green is that dude. I’m always knocking Green Lantern mixtapes.”

Nas and Damian Marley’s Distant Relatives joint LP came out Tuesday (May 18). Nas also appears on Capone-N-Noreaga’s independent July 13 album, The War Report 2. Although Nas didn’t specifically record rhymes for the album, he appears on a track called “With Me.” Nore told us the Nas vocals were taken from an old studio session he had in the vault.

“It’s all good,” Nas said about appearing on the album. “That’s a team outta Queens. It’s all good.”

What about C-N-N’s business partner Raekwon? Nas was conspicuously absent on the Chef’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx … Pt. II, and he regrets it. Maybe he’ll get on the Wu-Tang Clan co-founder’s upcoming Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang album.

“It’s been no discussions,” Nas said about appearing on Rae’s new project. “You know how the music game is. Everybody is out there grindin’, making music. But his last album was classic. I definitely wish I was on that piece. So yeah, something in the future is definitely likely. That’ll be good.”

Finally, what’s good with a new Nas solo LP?

“I talked to a lot of people I really like about my next project. But there’s no one sitting there doing my album right now that I could speak of,” he said. “This record here [Distant Relatives], I think it’s gonna push me and D in our solo projects. I think any record we do, it’s gotta live up to this record. It’s gotta be as good or better. We set the standard with this album. I’m just excited about this record right now.”

‘It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video,’ co-star Ne-Yo says of the F. Gary Gray-directed clip.

Rick Ross is sitting on top of the world — in his new video for “Super High,” Ross, along with his lady, straddles his motorcyle on a mountain top.

“Shout-out to F. Gary Gray,” Ross said recently on the set of the clip, referring to the video’s director, known for the films “Set It Off” and “The Italian Job,” among others. “That’s my favorite director throughout film. I met him … Diddy introduced me to him one night. When I completed the record, I flew out to L.A. and met with him. I played [the track] for him. I gotta shout him out big time. … But the video is actually like flashback of [the movie] ‘Easy Rider’ — a bunch of homies hoggin’ the highway. We run across a beautiful young lady which happens to be Stacie Dash, and a dude — he’s a d—– bag. I end up snatching her and spending the rest of the evening with her, the way a boss should.”

“It’s basically Ross and his gang riding around doing what they do,” guest star Ne-Yo said of the clip. “This is my first time working with F. Gary Gray. So far, so good. He’s a movie director, so everything is gonna have that cinematic edge to it. It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video.”

Sure enough, Gray choreographed a scene were Ross and his road dawgs surround the sports vehicle being driven by Dash’s original beau and, of course, Ross got a performance scene as well, let his swagger shine in his custom-made leather jacket. In a later scene, Ross and Ne-Yo sit at a table together in a bar filled with tough guys and sexy ladies. While on set, Ne-Yo did say that the song has nothing to do with indulging in narcotics.

“It’s just about feeling good,” The Grammy Award-winning singer clarified. “Doing things that maybe regular people can’t do. You work hard so you get to play hard.”

Ross explained that he was inspired to write the record while looking down at Central Park from Diddy’s penthouse in Manhattan.

“The concept actually came from me and Diddy — we was running around New York City one night, went back to his penthouse and that’s where the actual term ‘super high’ comes from,” Ross offered. “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning. I’m just burning, I’m thinking. [Diddy] turned on ‘Purple Rain,’ Prince. A few homies were in there — D Roc, me and him reminiscing, talking about Biggie. After the conversation I just stopped watching the movie and walked to the huge window. And I was reflecting like, ‘Wow.’ It had me reflecting on how far I came as a artist and as a person.

“When you trying to get better as an artist, a lot of times we coming from the streets. We’re flawed in a lot of ways. We trying to get better as people,” he explained. “I was reflecting on that, realizing how significant the title Teflon Don is, even though that was one of my first rap names and one of the first tattoos I got. I just came with the whole first verse looking out the view: ‘From my n—a Diddy view, I think I see his vision too/ ‘Purple Rain,’ over Central Park, chillin’ with my goons.’ I was just capturing them moments and putting it over beats.”

Teflon Don is slated to drop on June 29 and Diddy, Kanye West and Jay-Z have all contributed to the project.

‘It’s kind of like the anti-love love story,’ Anthony Mandler says.

As both a newcomer and budding superstar, Drake draws a high level of scrutiny toward himself with each new song or video he releases.

That trend continued Tuesday (May 11) with the premiere of his latest clip, “Find Your Love,” directed by Anthony Mandler.

“It’s unbelievable the amount of attention that he garners,” Mandler told MTV News. “Since the video dropped, I think I’ve received 200 e-mails, Facebook questions, tweets. There’s a fascination with him and there’s certainly been a void in music that he’s come to fill.”

According to Mandler, Drake’s allure lies in his ability to fit in across various groups. That idea was at the heart of the two clips he’s helmed for Drake, “Over” and “Find Your Love.” For their collaboration, he explained, the two played against the convention of who Drake may or may not be.

“I think part of that is the kind of way he works across genres, the way he works across tonalities: Is he black, is he white, he’s aligned with Wayne and the streets, but he’s a nice guy from Toronto,” Mandler said. “And that really was the theme with ‘Over.’ Especially with the album and the dualities in the music to come, in one song he rhymes and another song he sings, the artists he’s working with — he’s very hard to pin down.

“Part of the objective of making this video was to do that same twist again, to give you something unexpected, not only tonality with the song but with the video thematically. It’s kind of like the anti-love love story.”

In the video, Drake is advised to get out of dodge when he tries to woo the love interest of a local gang lord. He ignores the words of the elder Jamaican sage and instead ventures into the ghettos of “Gully Side” to see his leading lady once more. As Drake and the man speak, words run across the screen warning of the perils of unknowingly taking things too far.

“It’s really about crossing lines, what was said in the first scene,” Mandler said about Drake’s chase for love. “It’s about really understanding what’s right and what’s wrong and it’s really easy to lose that when you’re the center of attention.”

The director said the idea of “Find Your Love” was to serve as a follow-up to “Over,”
which he felt helped to clear the slate of everything pre-Thank Me Later, Drake’s forthcoming debut album. The video was to feature visuals that begin a new story in the young rapper’s life. Mandler applauded Drake’s efforts in making the clip happen.

“He did it fearlessly,” Mandler beamed. “He did it without any sign of hesitation. That was incredible. He wanted to do something that went further with the song, that took the essence of the song but communicated it with imagery that made people think, rather than go up the middle and make an obvious R&B video. That’s completely not who Drake is.”

target="_blank">XXL, the Toronto lyricist said that despite the accolades thrown his way he’s still actually “trying to become a better rapper.”

The So Far Gone star — known for his blend of singing and rapping — explained that his ultimate goal is to outdo his previous work more than to compare himself to his peers.

“As far as rappers? Um … I’m really still trying to become a better rapper, you know? And I still have idols,” Drake said. “I still have people I look up to. I definitely don’t feel that I’m the best I can be nor am I the best rapper. Like I said, I just love making the music, and I’m less concerned about where I stand in the rankings and more about just where I stand with myself, like am I getting better? You know, am I the best I can be?

“I really don’t care about like compared to Hov or compared to Wayne,” he continued. “That’s another man. I’ve never been really worried about what anybody else is doing. I just use it as reference points and as influence and inspiration, but I don’t really bother myself with thinking who’s the best. ‘Cause that doesn’t really matter. It’s just who’s got the songs that move people at the time. Like if you’ve got the title of being the best rapper but you don’t have the hottest songs out? To me, that’s what’s important is just like putting out consistently good product.”

Although Drake’s recent single, “Find Your Love,” is more R&B-tinged than hip-hop flavored, the rapper said he still wants to be considered one of the best MCs when his June
15 debut, Thank Me Later, drops.

“I definitely want to be great,” he said. “You know, I’m not saying I don’t care. I obviously care. I love being mentioned in a class of people that are incredible, but I mean, you can focus on that sh– and drive yourself crazy. … In different genres it’s way different. I think rap is probably the most competitive genre.”

While Miley Cyrus’ new album, Can’t Be Tamed, doesn’t drop until June 22, the singer/actress is still looking ahead to what’s next.

“I think my fans will be excited to know they’ve got more to look forward to,” said Cyrus, who just released a clip for the album’s title track. “It’s not just gonna be [this]. We’ve got another season of the show ['Hannah Montana'], which I think people are excited about that. I’m working on a movie this summer.”

Miley recently announced plans to take a break from music and focus on her acting career, but she isn’t planning to abandon it altogether. “I think [my fans have] a lot to look forward to in music as well,” she teased.

For right now, Miley fans can enjoy her spicy new song and video, which she says got full approval from her parents.

“My mom was on set,” she said of the edgy video. “And my dad loves it, because I think my dad was thinking I was a little crazy as I was writing it. When you see it, they were so proud of the treatment I came up with.”

Plus, she thinks the video is pretty spot-on to who she is as a person. “I think it definitely shows a change of what people remember me as, but it’s not trying to not be me,” Cyrus said. “I didn’t want to be just a character. I wanted to be myself and just in a bird-like form in the way I dressed.”
