After a nearly yearlong wait for his fans, Drake’s first single from his debut album Thank Me Later is here. The song, “Over,” deals with Drake coming to grips with fame. And just like Drizzy chose to stay with his home team, Young Money, when signing his record deal, he also chose to debut his first official record in his hometown, on Toronto radio station 93.5 the Flow. The song is also available for download on Drake’s Web site.

“Bottles on me, long as someone drink it,” the 23-year-old raps in a slow, aggressive flow. “Never drop the ball, f— is y’all thinking?/ Making sure the Young Money ship is never sinking/ ‘Bout to set it off in this bi—, Jada Pinkett/ You too fine to be laying down in bed alone/ I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone.”

The track was produced by Boi-1da and has an energetic feel.

” ‘Bout to go Thriller, Mike Jackson on these n—as,” Drake later raps. “All I need is a f—ing red jacket with some zippers.”

Even with anticipation for the record through the roof, Drake said he’s keeping everything in perspective.

“This is my first song,” he told radio-show hosts Jus Red and Jwyze. “This is still my first single off my first album. This is still the beginning, as great as everything has gone.”

“I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year,” Drake sings on the hook. “Who the f— are y’all?/ I swear it feels like the last few nights we been everywhere and back/ But I just can’t remember it all/ What am I doing? What am I doing?/ Oh yeah, that’s right/ I’m doing me, I’m doing me/ I’m living life right now, man, and this what I’mma do till it’s over/ Till it’s over/ But it’s far from over.”

“I went with ‘Over’ as the first look because of the words in the hook,” he said. “The hook being the most repetitive part. I got a lot of great songs on my album. I got songs for women who wanna feel special. I got songs for dudes — if you ever thought my music was too soft, this is one you will enjoy. I got a lot of variety on there, but the biggest thing was that opening line on the hook: ‘I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year.’

“I’ve just gone so many places in a short amount of time,” he added. “This record sums up where I am right now in my career. I think it’s a great first impression. The album is going to be a great body of work for you to get lost in. Right now I just wanna have some fun. When we’re out partying, I want people to have some fun too, because this is the one.”

The video for “Over” is scheduled to be filmed soon in Los Angeles.

A new official trailer for the release of Peter Stebbings’ comedy Defendor starring Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings has debuted on Trailer Addict. We originally featured an early trailer for this wacky superhero comedy last September before its premiere in Toronto, but this new trailer is a better representation of what to expect from the movie. Yes, the cinematic marketplace is getting a bit saturated with superhero comedies (like Kick-Ass) but this is one that I suggest seeing because Woody Harrelson gives a great performance and because it is mildly entertaining. It’s not that bad, but it’s not really that amazing either. Watch and enjoy!

If you miss the opportunity to see Defendor in theaters, it arrives on DVD on April 30th.

Reality intersects with delusion in the mind of Arthur Poppington, a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as Defendor, and combs the streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry.

Defendor is both written and directed by Canadian actor-turned-filmmaker Peter Stebbings, who is making his directorial debut with this film. This first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year (you can watch my video review of the film here). It’s being distributed in Canada by Alliance Films and in the US by Darius Films. Defendor will hit very limited theaters start on February 26th this month before arriving on DVD.

Yes, finally, everyone needs to watch this! Apple has debuted a new official trailer for Tim Blake Nelson’s Leaves of Grass starring twin Edward Nortons. The more I think back to this, the better it gets, it was such an entertaining movie and I can’t wait for it to hit theaters. We debuted a bad early trailer last year but this one is a huge improvement. It’s a great story about two different cultures clashing and also watching brothers get together and just have fun. And Edward Norton knocks it out of the park with his side-by-side dual performances – you’ll be amazed. I’m also glad they don’t spoil everything in the movie either. Enjoy!

An Ivy League professor (played by Edward Norton) is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a simple scheme to take down a local drug lord.

Leaves of Grass is both written and directed by fellow actor Tim Blake Nelson, who directed Eye of God, Othello and The Grey Zone previously. This was produced independently by Tim Blake Nelson and Edward Norton and first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. First Look Pictures is distributing in the US and will be releasing Leaves of Grass limited starting on April 2nd coming up. Go see it – it’s good!

Warner Bros has debut the official trailer DC Comics’ The Losers starring Zoe Saldana as Aisha, Chris Evans as Jensen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Clay, Columbus Short as Pooch, Idris Elba as Roque, and Óscar Jaenada as Cougar. This actually looks pretty awesome, I love the style, I love the cast, I love the action, what’s not to like? Some comparisons can be made to The A-Team, but I think this has its own good story and since it’s based on a DC Comics graphic novel, it’s got a lot to draw from that’s completely different The A-Team. Anyway, I’ve said enough, because the action in this speaks louder than any words. Fire it up and enjoy!

When Rotten Tomatoes handed out their Golden Tomatoes for the best reviewed movies of the 2009, it was sad to see that the highest ranked movie for kids (that wasn’t animated) was Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are at 73% with the pathetic Hotel for Dogs behind with a measly 46%. It’s clear that kids & families alike are in dire need of some quality entertainment in the live action arena. So I’m pleased to present the first trailer (and poster) for the upcoming comedy adaptation The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a children’s graphic novel by Jeff Kinney following the travails of wise-cracking middle school student Greg Heffley.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is directed by former animation director Thor Freudenthal of a few older short films and Hotel for Dogs previously. The screenplay was co-written by Jackie Filgo & Jeff Filgo (“That ’70s Show”) and Jeff Judah & Gabe Sachs (“90210″). The film is based on the children’s graphic novel by Jeff Kinney of the same name. This was produced by Fox 2000 and is being distributed by 20th Century Fox. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid will hit theaters on April 2nd this spring. So anyone interested in seeing this?
