Pickle Defeats “Nickleback” In Facebook Fan Battle

First, a grassroots Facebook group helped Rage Against the Machine beat The X Factor for the U.K. Christmas Number One. Then, a pair of Facebook campaigns encouraged John Mellencamp to both quit smoking and run for Senate. Now, in what could be the weirdest accomplishment in the history of the social network, a page called “Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback?” has attracted more fans in the past two weeks than the actual Nickelback fan page has accrued in its entire time on Facebook.
At press time, the “Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback” page, with “Nickleback” spelled incorrectly to avoid copyright issues, has 1,487,000 fans since February 3rd, while Nickelback have 1,423,000 fans dating back to June 2008. The campaign, created by user Carol Anne, was inspired by a similar Facebook page that pitted Justin Bieber against an onion ring. “This is all strictly intended for humour and nothing more or less,” Carol Anne writes on the page. “I am not using this page to endorse any hate towards the band Nickelback.” If it’s any consolation to Nickelback, the number of Facebook fans isn’t indicative of their success as their latest album Dark Horse has sold over 2.6 million copies.

hahahaha
love this
I personally loved The State. I was happy for them when Silver Side Up became huge and loved the song they did with Ian Thornley. Sadly, they have musically been on a downward spiral since then.
Ugh, I hope we never see Chad on “Rock of Love” – that would lessen the quality of the entire series.
wow nickelback blows. pickles
Nickleback was the Poison (pun intended) of the last decade. Its only a matter of time before we see the lead singer on Rock of Love.
They’re just trying to avoid being de-adminned by Facebook with that hullaballoo. Nickelback sucks unequivocally.
