Live at Rolling Stone: Watch Butch Walker’s Acoustic Set
Butch Walker, “one of America’s best singer-songwriters,” according to Rolling Stone’s review of latest disc I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart, recently stopped by the RS offices to perform a stripped-down set of songs from the album with bandmate Fran Capitanelli.
Walker, whose producing credits include Pink, Katy Perry and Dashboard Confessional, says his next project will be sessions with Norwegian rocker Ida Maria, who broke out last year with a song whose title isn’t very different from his own lengthy album name — “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked” — and played her own Live at Rolling Stone set. He admitted his gig working on Weezer’s Raditude was “surreal and a lifelong fantasy,” and says he doesn’t have any immediate plans to work with Taylor Swift again despite their team-up at the Grammys on “You Belong With Me.”
Butch Walker and the Black Widows are on tour with Train until the middle of April and kick off a headlining trek in May. Check out Walker and Capitanelli’s performances of “Trash Day” above, and “Pretty Melody” and “Temporary Title” right here:

I “accidentally” saw Butch with Marvelous 3 at the Metro in Chicago back in 2000, and I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears! I fell in love with Butch and his music from that moment. My advice is for everyone to get his Marvelous 3 albums and all of his solo albums since–I guarantee you won’t be able to stop listening. And get to a live show–he’s an awesome performer, to say the least.
Butch = stupendous. The new album is a big accomplishment, with a timeless rock sound. “Pretty Melody,” “She Like Hair Bands” and “House of Cards” are radio-ready gems, if only radio could turn its tin ear!
I love Butch Walker!!! I have every cd he has made(except his hair band days) Marv 3 and on!! I love this album!!! You must see a live show, they ALL rocks!!
Sweet! My faves from ILIBWYHNH! I loved the sound of Butch Walker from first listen ages ago. He is amazing!
Don’t forget he was rolling stone producer of the year in 1995. Since Marv 3 broke up, I’ve been left of self-centered.
Butch Walker is amazing. For those of you who don’t know his music, make that a top priority. Buy his music and enjoy.
You can thank me later!!!
wow. his vocals on “Pretty Melody” are amazing.

also, the commentary by the other dude is kinda hilarious.
Fantastic. Butch Walker is a golden God!
This is awesome!!!! I’ve loved Butch Walker for over 10 years since the Marv 3 days. Glad to see him finally getting some RS spotlight!
