Johnny Depp Talks Up Mad Hatter in New Alice in Wonderland Clip
Johnny Depp goes deep on his Mad Hatter character in the new Alice in Wonderland clip, embedded above. “The Mad Hatter is unpredictable,” Depp says. “Like a mood ring, his emotions are right on the surface.”
The Oscar-nominated actor of course praises director Tim Burton, with whom he’s made seven movies. Depp also offers his take on the creepy showdown included in the trailer between warring armies of the Wonderland empire. “I’ve done so many [battles] as Captain Jack, that the challenge is to find how the Hatter would sword-fight,” he says.
After the jump: Burton’s concept art for the Knave, portrayed in the film by Crispin Glover, and for Tweedledum and Tweedledee, played by Matt Lucas.
Alice in Wonderland opens March 5.
