Eric Bana Cast in Joe Wright’s Upcoming Action Film ‘Hanna’
After watching Eric Bana kick ass in Star Trek, I would love to see him get back into more action roles. Heat Vision is reporting that Bana has joined Joe Wright’s new project Hanna starring Saoirse Ronan as a “teenage assassin.” Bana will play her father in the story of a 14-year-old Eastern European girl saved from a CIA breeding camp and raised by her dad to be a cold-blooded killing machine. After finding peace with a French family, the girl is dragged back to her father’s world, and she must fight her way to a free life. The script was written by newcomers Seth Lochhead & David Farr and has similarities to La Femme Nikita.
I’m looking forward to this project quite a bit just because of the talent that is involved and because it’s an original idea (and we don’t see those that often these days anymore). Joe Wright isn’t my favorite director, but I was more than impressed by Atonement, and I’ve got a feeling he’ll kick our ass right out of our seats with an action movie. And now with Saoirse Ronan and Eric Bana on-board, the cast is starting to shape up nicely as well. I’ve been a fan of Bana for a while but he hasn’t done anything gritty and action intensive (besides Star Trek) since Munich and Troy in 2004. I’m also curious to see who else Wright casts in this.
