“American Idol” Names Top 12, Ousts Epperly, Hall, Lambert, Scott
American Idol eliminated its final four semifinal contestants last night, removing any chances of another Idol hero named Lambert breaking out this season — or of original songstress Lilly Scott getting a chance to bring her quirky style to the Top 12 stage. Scott, the blond-haired multi-instrumentalist who shouted out her Moog synth and performed an interesting take on the Beatles’ “Fixing a Hole” during the Top 24 rounds, was voted off along with Alex Lambert (who didn’t take the news well, to put it mildly), dramatic crooner Todrick Hall and earnest 19-year-old Katelyn Epperly. That means the Top 12 singers — who will be tackling songs by the Rolling Stones — include Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lacey Brown, Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus and Tim Urban.
The Rock Daily favorites: Siobhan Magnus, who turned out three fascinating and powerhouse performances during the semifinals (of Aretha Franklin’s “Think,” Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” and the Animals’ “House of the Rising Sun”), and Crystal Bowersox, whose gritty blues vibe finally gelled on her cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason.”

Alex, chin up…you WILL have a music contract, I WILL buy your music. I love your soulful, HUGE voice ! ! I’m soooo done with Idol. Complete idiots are voting this season
We only have the voting public to blame as Scott and Lambert wasn’t able to wiggle through Top 12. I’m gonna miss Lambert’s distinct voice. As Kara and Simon had pointed out, Alex has a recordable voice.
I was making my plsns for the AI concert this summer just to see ALEX LAMBERT. No need to go now.

I have not been this shocked at a results show since Chris Daughtry was voted off. Alex Lambert was unique and his lack of expertise was refreshing. I was looking forward to hearing that amazing voice week after week. I hope he gets a recording contract soon but I am no longer interested in the show.

I think Alex was the most unique of all the male singers, fox needs to bring him back like they did with Annook from last season
Unfortunatly, Lily looks like the albino on the Princess Bride which is why she did not get enough votes to stay. I thought her performance was much better than Katie’s
The voting system is obviously junk… Alex and Lily were probably two of the best talents in the group and they were beaten by poor, but cutesy, contestants. I dunno, I thought it was a singing contest but it clearly is a popularity contest.
